
Minister Väyrynen, who is making an export promotion trip to Petrozavodsk and Sortavala on 7–8 September, sees much investment potential for Finnish companies in the Karelian region. “The neighbouring area cooperation carried out now for 20 years has laid the foundation for good cooperation. In recent years, economic cooperation has been named a sector of priority, and this is promoted through many projects in various fields," Minister said.

The MENA area, i.e. the area of the Middle East and North Africa, has traditionally been an important export target for Finland.In comparison to many of our competitor countries, however, export collapsed last year. The challenges posed by this situation were taken up at the MENA and I Seminar organized by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs on 31 August, where the business opportunities available to Finnish companies in the area were discussed.
